Young Maltese weightlifters have stolen the show at the European Youth Championships held in Thessaloniki, with their impressive performances.
The highlight of the Maltese contingent was Kim Camilleri Lagana who despite recovering from an injury and balancing training with her O Levels, placed an impressive fourth, beating out competitors from major Olympic nations such as Spain, United Kingdom and Italy.
Kim successfully completed all six of her attempts, lifting 60kg, 63kg, and 65kg in the Snatch, and 78kg, 81kg, and 83kg in the Clean & Jerk, totaling 148kg. France won first place, followed by Bulgaria and Greece.
Nathan Mifsud in the 55kg U15 category, lifted 73kg in the Snatch and 92kg in the Clean and Jerk to place 9th overall whilst Aaliyah Gatt and Kaya Curmi Inguanez also performed admirably and will surely be excited for their next opportunity to represent Malta.
