Grand Theft Auto IV Celebrates It’s 16 Year Anniversary

Yesterday 16 years ago, iconic game Grand Theft Auto IV celebrated it’s 16 year anniversary leading to many gamers reminiscing about the game that ultimately led to Grand Theft Auto V which over it’s long run of 11 years amassed an insane $8.5 billion in global revenue.

Even though many gamers especially younger ones will only know the franchise because of the fifth edition, GTA 4 at the time as was also a record breaker becoming the fastest selling entertainment product in history at the time.

It was also Rockstar’s first ever game released in HD and according to many fans had the best and most iconic theme song of any of the GTA games.

Some individuals have also suggested that GTA 4 boasted a superior story mode compared to GTA 5, though some argue that this sentiment may stem from nostalgia.

The Grand Theft Auto frenzy is in full swing, with millions of fans worldwide eagerly anticipating the release of the highly anticipated GTA 6, scheduled for launch in 2025.

13,748 Traffic Fines Handed On Coast Road In 2023

According to a parliamentary question reply – tabled by PN MP Jerome Caruana Cilia and answered by Minister Byron Camilleri, there were 13,748 fines handed in Naxxar’s Coast Road in 2023.

According to the information tabled, Attard’s Triq in-Nutar Żarb followed closely with 6,920 – meaning that the Coast Road registered almost double the fines from the second place.

The top five were rounded up with Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli in St Julian’s at 5,825, Triq Dun Karm in Birkirkara at 5,712 and Gudja’s Malta International Airport at 4,188.

As for 2024, there were 2,369 issued on the Coast Road in the first three months of this year.

In second place was Birkirkara’s Triq Dun Karm with 2,144, followed by Mosta’s Triq il-Kostituzzjoni at 2,118.

Bolt To Introduce Maltese Speaking Driver Option

Ride-hailing platform Bolt announced the launch of a Maltese language service called Rikba (“ride”), aimed at meeting the needs of local residents.

Although not officially posted on Bolt’s Facebook page, with a ‘Bolt Malta News’ screenshot shared onto ‘Are You Being Served? (Malta & Gozo) Original’, a company spokesperson confirmed the service.

Bolt To Introduce Maltese Speaking Driver Option

Rikba allows customers to book a Maltese-speaking driver. The announcement generated mixed reactions on social media with some praising the initiative and others expressing concerns about potential delays or increased costs.

Criticism also arose by some users perceiving the move as discriminatory towards non-Maltese drivers. Instances of racial and xenophobic comments were reported, highlighting ongoing challenges faced by third-country nationals in the transport sector.

Valletta FC Crowned Winners Of Youth League Section A

Valletta FC clinched the Youth League Section A title with a 1-0 victory over Mosta in their final match at the Centenary Stadium.

David Garba’s goal secured the win, delighting Valletta fans. This success brought relief to the club’s supporters, reeling from their senior team’s relegation to the Challenge League.

MFA vice-president Matthew Paris presented the trophy to the Valletta players. The win reflects Valletta’s consistent performance throughout the season, battling with Mosta for the top spot.

It serves as a morale boost for the senior team aiming to return to the Premier League next season.

Additionally, Valletta FC’s triumph grants them entry into Europe, as they will represent Malta in the UEFA Youth League for the first time. Their debut in September’s first qualifying round awaits, with opponents to be determined in the upcoming draw on September 3rd.
