Gozo has welcomed ten children from war-ridden Ukraine for a much-needed week of peace and relaxation, far from the chaos of their homeland. Organized by the Gozo Regional Council in collaboration with several Local Councils and entities, the week-long camp provided the youths, aged 11 to 14, with a break from the harsh realities of war.
This morning, the children explored Żebbuġ, visiting the local church, the town center, Marsalforn, and the Salt Pans, followed by a refreshing swim at Xwejni Bay. They also enjoyed the hospitality of Munxar Local Council, where they visited Xlendi, played in Munxar’s field, and watched a stunning sunset at Sanat Cliffs.
Throughout their stay, the youths participated in various activities, including a visit to Nadur’s adolescent center, a boat tour of Dwejra, and a unique horse-riding experience. These seven days provided a peaceful escape from the sounds of sirens and gunfire, giving the children a chance to relax and enjoy life.
Nadia Yakuba, an English teacher accompanying the group, praised the hospitality and program, grateful for the opportunity to bring the children peace and joy during their stay in Gozo.
