The Ministry for Gozo has announced the relaunch of its financial assistance scheme for the second year, offering support to individuals and organizations renting spaces to construct floats or grotesque masks for the Gozo Regional Carnival 2026.
Minister Clint Camilleri highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating, “The Gozo Carnival is a cornerstone of our cultural identity, drawing larger audiences each year from both Malta and abroad.
This scheme not only celebrates this vibrant tradition but also provides a direct and indirect boost to the local economy.”
Eligible applicants can receive funding of up to €25,000 annually for float construction or €10,000 for grotesque mask production, which will cover rental costs. To qualify, premises must be rented for at least one year, with the option to extend on an annual basis.
“This program reinforces our dedication to safeguarding cultural heritage while encouraging greater involvement in the Carnival.
It provides talented individuals with the resources they need to showcase their creativity and continue offering the community an unforgettable experience,” Minister Camilleri added.
Applications for the scheme are open for one month and can be submitted online at https://gozo.gov.mt/ or in person at the Cultural Heritage Directorate, 11 Triq it-Telgħa tal-Kastell, Rabat, Gozo.
Interested applicants are advised to review the guidelines and eligibility criteria available on the website. A Ministry-appointed selection board will evaluate submissions to ensure compliance with the scheme’s requirements.
