During the closing of the Labour Party’s General Conference on Sunday, Prime Minister Robert Abela revealed that the government now spends €1.2 billion per year on wages of government workers.
This is double the amount before the year 2013, the Prime Minister revealed, as he discussed a number of collective and sectoral agreements.
These 58 collective and sectoral agreements, the Labour Party leader said, resulted in better living conditions for workers and their families.
Abela said that the government never took from one on end whilst giving to another, referencing pensions and energy prices. He also highlighted how the government is proposing new improvements to the situations of nurses and midwives, whose union has been, and still is, undergoing negotiations with authorities for better conditions.
