Billie Eilish angry that people cared more about Heard/Depp trial than Roe V Wade

Billie Eilish angry that people cared more about Heard/Depp trial than Roe V Wade

As she took to the stage to become Glastonbury’s youngest ever headliner on Friday night, 20-year-old Billie Eilish slammed people for caring more about the Depp v Heard court case than the Roe v Wade ruling overturning.

The Roe v Wade overturning ended constitutional protections for abortions, potentially leading to abortion bans in almost half of US states.

The singer was about to perform ‘Try Not To Abuse Your Power’ alongside her brother Finneas, but decided to make a statement prior to the song about the ruling.

‘The song we’re about to do is, I think, one of the favourites that we’ve written and it’s about the concept of power and how we need to always remember how not to abuse it’ she said.

‘And today is a really, really dark day for women in the US. I’m just going to say that as I cannot bear to think about it any longer in this moment.’

In her latest track ‘TV’ the lyrics went on to include; “The internet’s gone wild watching movie stars on trial / While they’re overturning Roe v. Wade.” In an interview, Eilish gave some more context to the lyrics saying that she was surprised people are giving their takes on the Depp trial instead of Roe V Wade.

Malta was the hottest place in Europe yesterday as heat wave persists

Malta was the hottest place in Europe yesterday as heat wave persists
Jun 26 2022 Share

According to various weather news portals, the Maltese islands were the hottest spot in Europe yesterday, Saturday 25th June, with a temperature of 38°C.

Malta is currently experiencing the second heat wave of summer 2022, and the temperatures have been continuously climbing to more scorching temperatures.

The weather today is not set to give us any respite as the temperatures are set to feel like 37 degrees Celsius, with a low of 24°C. And it will only get worse, as the week ahead is set to bring in temperatures burning at 39°C for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Malta is but one of many countries experiencing such scorching heat as many European countries also battle fires caused by the extreme weather patterns, which many experts are blaming climate change for.

Such conditions always come with warnings by the health authorities to stay safe, avoid the sun when at its peak, wear sunscreen and stay as hydrated as possible. Contact health authorities in case of any medical emergencies related to the heat.

A group of men at Paceville were filmed attacking the bouncers standing guard outside Havana Club Malta.

The altercation quickly escalated as one of the assailants picked up and tossed a barrier at the bouncers and the crowd in the vicinity. Sources have revealed that these are the same ‘gang members’ who attacked the club around two years ago.

At the time of the incident there was no police presence in the vicinity. Club management from various establishments have been crying for help from the respective authorities to provide more security.

Club owner and managing director told MaltaDaily that more police presence in this major busy clubbing street and such a situation could have easily been avoided if there was more police presence in the area.

He said he has advised authorities about these threats many times before, and though they have increased the RIU patrols recently, it’s still not enough to cover the area.
