Cyclist Dies After Three Vehicle Crash In Wied Il-Għajn

Today, at around 1000hrs, police are informed of a traffic accident in Triq Villabate, Wied il-Għajn.

Preliminary investigations showed that a crash had taken place between a Peugeot Partner van driven by a 38 man from the Ivory Coast and resident of Marsa, a Nissan March driven by a 43 year old Italian man, and a 67 year old cyclist resident of Żejtun.

Riding passenger in the Nissan were a 38 year old Italian woman who was taken to Mater Dei via hospital.

The cyclist was given medical aid on site but was unfortunately pronounced deceased. The condition of the Italian woman is unknown.

An inquiry has been opened and investigations are ongoing.
