Girl Raises €100 For Puttinu By Collecting 1, 2 & 5 Cent Coins

Sophie Agius Vadala donated €100 to Puttinu Cares after having raised the amount by collecting 1c, 2c and 5c coins.

She presented the Puttinu Cares team with the money, contributing to the NGO’s project of helping people battling cancer as well as the building of new homes in the UK as they undergo treatment.

‘Your thoughtful effort and generosity are truly appreciated. Thank you, Sophie’, wrote the Puttinu team.

Early yesterday morning, the Armed Forces of Malta conducted a rescue operation concerning a person who fell off a quad bike at Imgiebah cliffs.

An AFM air asset was deployed to the area for the rescue, with the casualty being airlifted to an area in the vicinity of Selmun.

They were subsequently handed over to medical staff for further attention.

Malta With 2nd Lowest Households With Kids, Says Eurostat

According to Eurostat, Malta was the second lowest country in the EU to have households with children in them, at 19.5%.

The lowest amount was registered in Finland at 17.7%, whereas the third lowest was registered in Germany at 20.1%.

Meanwhile, the highest amount of households with children in them was registered in Slovakia at 36.3%, followed by Ireland and Cyprus at 33.3% and 29.2%.

Last year, 23.8% of EU households included children, whereas 76.2% did not.

Man Arrested After 62 Sachets Of Cocaine Found On Person

Police investigations led to the arrest of a 35 year old man from Macedonia in connection to an aggravated possession of cocaine.

On Friday, at around 2100hrs, as police were conducting surveillance in the St Julian’s area in relation to the case, the suspect was spotted in Triq il-Wilga, where he was arrested immediately.

He was taken to the police station and inspections on him yielded 62 packets of drugs alleged to be cocaine.

More investigations in his St Paul’s Bay residence and his vehicle also yielded other items related to drugs.

The man is expected to be arraigned in court today at around 1030hrs.
