Following reports of blood clots and the USA halting the vaccine out of an abundance of caution, it seems Malta will be following in these footsteps as it will not be using the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Superintendent for Public Health Professor Charmaine Gauci confirmed this in an interview with a Times of Malta journalist.

The one shot vaccine will be halted by not just Malta but the UE along with the US due to 6 cases of blood clots resulted from 6.8 million doses administered. AstraZeneca will still be administered. She also stated that Malta will not give the option for people to choose to take the second shot from a different company, as did Germany.
