Ġejja x-Xitwa? Possible Showers Forecasted Over The Weekend

While the islands seem to remain abundant in summer vibes as we head halfway into the Autumn season, Malta may experience possible rain showers over the weekend, according to the Met Office.

The Met Office’s 7-day forecast, as presented on maltairport.com, predicts partly cloudy weather on Friday and Saturday and ‘Possible Showers’ on Sunday.

Temperatures are expected to reach highs of 27°C which feel like 28°C and lows of 19°C.

Meanwhile, local weather page ‘It-Temp Madwarna’ has reported a weather anomaly in Western Europe, with temperatures reaching close to 30°C in Spain, Portugal, France, Austria, Italy and even England due to an extensive cyclone entirely covering Southern Europe.

The Phoenicia Malta Among Top 3 Hotels in Southern & Central Europe by Condé Nast

Malta’s very own The Phoenicia has placed amongst the Top 3 Hotels in Southern & Central Europe on prestigious travel platform Condé Nast Traveler.

The globally-renowned travel platform put one of Malta’s premier hotels in third place, with a score of 96.57, placing after Vienna’s Hotel Sacher and Park Hyatt, which placed in second and first respectively. Additionally, it was also named one of the Top 12 Hotels in the Rest of Europe by the publications Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards 2023.

This magnificent feat not only served as a first for the hotel and Maltese Islands, but was also called “the result of years of investment, not only in the property, but a substantial investment in The Phoenicia Malta team.”

In a recent statement, The Phoenicia Malta owner Mark Shaw stated the following: “We are deeply honoured to be included on this prestigious list, especially as it reflects the votes and feedback of our guests. At The Phoenicia Malta, we take great pride in providing warm, personalised hospitality, and it’s truly a source of pride to see valued guests returning year after year.”

The ranking comes after more than 520,000 readers submitted responses of their travel experiences across the globe, resulting in the results of The Readers’ Choice Awards.

Home Owners Association Laments at ‘Views’ at 5-Star Pool

Malta’s Home Owners Association took to Facebook on Thursday to share their concern at the inharmonious views at one of Malta’s hotels.

“This is what a 5-star pool looks like in one of the most expensive locations in Malta”, the association wrote in a post accompanied by a photo of a pool with cranes towering above as constructions went by their daily works.

Many took to the comments to share their disdain at the situation, with some criticising the association for their post. One comment called the whole argument ‘banal’, going on to highlight that the area is where hotels belong, so you cannot build hotels without cranes. The commenter went on to state that if works had to stop, the country would need to see where it would get its money from, also highlighting that for every crane, there is a team of people earning a living for their families.

UM Lecturer Takes Students Out for Coffee on First Day

A group of law students at the University of Malta had quite an interesting start to their year after a lecturer took them all out for coffee on their first day of lectures.

Nationalist Party MP and law student Eve Borg Bonello took to Instagram to applaud the lecturer and share the situation.

“A different kind of morning at university”, she wrote, going on to explain that upon sitting for their first lecturer, the lecturer started off by asking the students to close their laptops and, after a brief introduction, they would be taken to the canteen for coffee and a brief introduction about themselves.

“The kind fo moments you’ll remember”, she concluded – a sentiment probably shared by the entire group of students.

Kudos to the lecturer for their approach on the first day!
