Prime Minister Robert Abela revealed on social media that he has initiated the process to bring the al-Najjar family to Malta, after nine of their ten children were killed.
‘In recent days, we have witnessed a human tragedy unfold, where a paediatrician who treated so many children in Gaza has herself lost nine of her ten children. Her husband and their only surviving child are seriously injured’, the Prime Minister explained.
‘On Sunday, I made the offer to welcome this family to our country, to provide them with the care and support they so desperately need.’
Through the Ministries for Foreign Affairs and Health, the Prime Minister revealed that the procedures have commenced so that once the father is in a condition to travel, this step can be taken.
‘As we have already done with many other families, we will welcome the al-Najjar family’, said Abela.
‘While we continue to provide humanitarian assistance, our country will remain a constant voice calling for a ceasefire so that peace may prevail and no more innocent lives are lost.’
