Malta has administered 11,705 vaccines as of yesterday
The Malta Health Authorities have vaccinated 11,705 people till yesterday.
This was the number of vaccines administered yesterday Sunday, 17th of January 2021, as announced on the Ministry for Health’s Facebook page, saħħa.
It was recently reported that Malta’s vaccine roll-out is among the fastest in the EU. Health Minister Chris Fearne also said that Malta is expected to have vaccinated more than 13,000 individuals by the end of the week.

154 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 121 recoveries
Malta has registered 154 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 3,239 swab tests, while 121 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.
To date, Malta has registered 15,742 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 12,717 have recovered, 241 died and 2,784 are still active.
During the last 24 hours, 2 male patients aged 73 and 84 years died at Mater Dei Hospital, while Covid-19 positive.

Travelling salesman spreads COVID-19 in China; 3 million people in lockdown as a result
While China has managed to bring the COVID-19 virus under control, the country has seen a sharp rise in case numbers over the past weeks.
They have immediately enforced new restrictions, measures and lockdowns in order to contain the virus as quickly as possible.
Over 100 infections in Jilin province were traced to a travelling salesman who had the virus and was asymptomatic.
