Most microplastics ever collected by Żibel removed during Golden Bay clean-up

May 11 2023 Share

Thanks to local NGO Żibel and M Demajo Wines-Spirits, Golden Bay was liberated from a whopping 20,000 microplastics during a recent clean-up event.

A whopping 65 volunteers gathered at the popular local beach for a 5-hour collaboration, where the sifted through the sand removing only foreign objects, thus maintaining the area’s natural integrity. The 20,000 microplastics removed weighed a total of 20 kilograms, breathing new life into the bay.

After the event, the volunteers were treated to an ice-cold Johnnie Walker cocktails and sustainable merch after a hard day’s work.

“Microplastics are all around us, but the beach is one of their last resting spots before becoming impossible to collect from nature. To ensure we do not disturb the ecosystems, we employ a rigorous filtering system after sifting to make sure we leave as many organic items on the beach”, a post by Żibel read.

The sustainable local brands will be organising another clean-up on July 1st, so make sure you keep an eye out on their socials for more information!

Small Mother’s Day gestures that would mean the world to your mum

Small Mother's Day gestures that would mean the world to your mum
May 11 2023 Share

Mother’s Day is a special occasion, it’s a time to express gratitude, love, and admiration towards the remarkable women that made us. While we should be celebrating these extraordinary people every single day, Mother’s Day is a an opportunity to escape the ordinary and make a little extra effort to make your mother feel special, here are a few ideas.

Give her a call

In today’s busy world, it’s easy to get caught up in our daily lives and forget to call our loved ones. Take a few minutes out of your day to call your mother, especially if you can’t be there in person. Let her know how much she means to you and how grateful you are for everything she has done for you.

Treat her with flowers

Flowers are a timeless gift that symbolises love, appreciation, and gratitude. Surprise your mother with a beautiful bouquet of her favourite flowers. You can either buy them from a local florist or order them online and have them delivered to her doorstep.

Cook her favourite meal

Take charge of the kitchen for a day and cook your mother’s favourite meal. It could be something as simple as breakfast in bed or a fancy three-course meal. Either way, she will appreciate the effort you put into making her day special.

Spend quality time with her

Nothing beats spending quality time with your mother. Whether it’s going out for a walk, watching a movie, or playing a board game, make sure to spend some one-on-one time with her.

Give her a thoughtful gift

A thoughtful gift doesn’t have to be expensive. It could be a personalised photo album, a heartfelt card, or a piece of jewellery that holds sentimental value. The key is to give her something that she will cherish and remember for years to come.

Help her with something

Mothers are always busy taking care of others, so why not help her with something that she’s been wanting to do for a while? It could be something as simple as organising her closet or helping her start a new hobby. Whatever it is, she will appreciate the gesture and the time you spent with her.

Whether it’s a phone call, a bouquet of flowers, or spending quality time with her, the most important thing is to make your mother feel loved and appreciated. So, go ahead and make this Mother’s Day a memorable one.
