Funnel Cloud Spotted Over Malta As Evening Storm Hits
Sep 27 2023 Share

Images shared by local weather Facebook page ‘It-Temp Madwarna’ shows what seems to be a funnel cloud forming a few moments before a storm passed over Malta late yesterday evening.

The funnel, the weather reports, possibly developed into a tornado in the Santa Venera and other central Maltese localities.

The page reported how some correspondents claimed to have heard strong gusts for about 10 seconds with trees allegedly having been torn from their roots in the main Birkirkara road.

Activist Considers Starting Cycling Bus As Schools Reopen

Activist Considers Starting Cycling Bus As Schools Reopen
Sep 26 2023 Share

Activist and cyclist Steve Zammit Lupi took to social media to offer the idea of starting a cycling bus for students and teachers in the Siġġiewi, Ħaż-Żebbuġ and Ħal Qormi area to help beat the traffic problem.

The group would cycle towards Junior College and/or University and would offer those interested and possibly doubting how they can engage the practice with the necessary information to do so.

‘Interested persons would meet up with others and travel together. I’ll give good tips to travel more conveniently, with the route passing from rural and secondary roads.’

‘The distance is approximately 6 to 9km, depending on where you’re from, and we’ll arrive in less than half an hour at a comfortable pace.’

The post went absolutely viral, racking up around 1.3K likes and 262 shares, with many commenting and praising the idea. Others recommended the practice be taken up in other localities around Malta as traffic congestions make news headlines as schools reopen for the next scholastic year.
