Four people arrested in relation to drug use and drug trafficking

Yesterday morning two people were acting suspiciously in Marsa, A 23-year-old man from Somalia and a 27-year-old man from Gambia. The two men were stopped and searched by the police. They had 31 packets of Cannabis, 13 pieces of Cannabis resin and 20 packets of synthetic drugs.

Both men will be taken to court later on today.

In another operation in Ħaż-Żabbar last Thursday, a BMW was stopped and searched, two people were inside, a 29-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man. A grinder with and 2 packets of suspected cannabis, as well as an iron fist, were found in the car and another 2 packets of suspected Cannabis were found on the man.

Both were arrested and taken to the Lock-up in Floriana and the women is expected to be taken to court later on today.

136 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 149 recoveries

Malta has registered 136 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 3,431 swab tests, while 149 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

As of Friday 29th January 2021, 25,822 vaccine doses were administered.

To date, Malta has registered 17,721 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 14,775 have recovered, 265 died and 2,681 are still active.

MaltaPost has just released a set of stamps to honour Healthcare workers and they are amazing!

They said in a Facebook post that,

“This set is dedicated to the nurses, carers, doctors and other hospital staff who quarantined with their patients, who missed out on their personal life to ensure the safety and quality of care of their patients during the #COVID19 pandemic. The issue is also dedicated to all the workers in the essential services”

Rita Ora loses over 300,000 followers after breaking lockdown rules

Rita Ora has been in news headlines recently after being caught breaking lockdown rules. These acts over the past month have caused Ora a loss of 300,000 followers across her social media channels.

In on instance Ora and her representatives offered Casa Cruz £5,000 to break coronavirus restrictions during a nation-wide lockdown at the time in order to allow her to celebrate her 30th birthday.

Rita ora issued public apologies twice after breaking two different restrictive measure, however, despite these apologies fans have still taken action. In an attempt to condemn such behaviour fans have been unfollowing the singer.
