Puttinu Cares shared the story of Rachel Bezzina, a former patient of the NGO who, at the age of 15, had to start chemotherapy to beat cancer.

Suffering from Rhabdomyosarcoma, Rachel expressed how at such a young and tender age, Rachel had to put on hold a colourful future to beat the disease.

‘Due to this news, we, as one family, had to face incredible suffering and make great sacrifices’ said Rachel. She went on to say that what she did not expect was how Puttinu Cares, a massive and loving family in its own right, was ready to accept and help Rachel and her family to beat the deadly disease.

Beating the disease and going on to achieve the colourful future she dreamed of by becoming a psychology graduate, Rachel asked everyone to remember Puttinu on Good Friday.

The organisation is holding a massive fundraising marathon to help other cancer patients currently suffering with cancer. The marathon will be broadcast on all TV stations and will run from 10am to 3pm and then 9pm to midnight.

Belgium shuts down Kinder chocolate factory due to salmonella outbreak

Belgium shuts down Kinder chocolate factory due to salmonella outbreak
Apr 9 2022 Share

The Belgian authorities have ordered the closure of a Kinder chocolate factory suspected to be behind a sudden wave of salmonella cases in several European and even US cities.

The Italian confectionary company Ferrero, which owns Kinder, suffered a major blow due to this health concern especially considering how this comes at the height of Easter holiday season.

This means that the factory’s entire production of Kinder Surprise, Kinder Mini Eggs, Kinder Surprise Maxi 100g and Kinder Shoko-Bons was halted for the time being.

Salmonella is a type of bacteria that can cause symptoms including diarrhoea, fever and stomach cramps in humans, and is one of the most common food-borne infections. Most cases are caused by the ingestion of food contaminated with animal or human faeces.

Kinder chocolates, most notably surprise eggs, are increasingly sought after during this period. Ferrero issued a statement expressing ‘sincere apologies’ for the salmonella cases. It acknowledged the suspension of operations of the factory in the south-east town of Arlon.

The food safety authority of Belgium confirmed that the plant was ordered to shut down following the findings, with information provided by Ferrero being deemed incomplete. It also recalled the entire factory production of the Kinder brand.

With the site set to reopen once ‘it has been concluded that the establishment complies with all food safety rules and requirements’, Belgian agriculture minister David Clarinval said that such a decision is never taken lightly.

Ferrero did acknowledge internal inefficiencies which created delays in retrieving information. The company also recalled certain varieties of Kinder chocolates in the US after they were made in Belgium.

‘Uncle Keith, will you be my godfather’ was written on a little yellow sticky note placed on baby Luigi Antonio by parents Fabian and Sarah.

Little Luigi was born on the 1st of November 2021, and this is the latest update to  one of the cutest local personality stories we’ve ever seen.

Back in the 21st of March 2021, Keith and Alexia were surprised by mugs gifted to them by Keith’s brother Fabian which unveiled Sarah’s pregnancy. The video has since become an iconic moment for the Demicoli brothers as Keith could not hold in his pure excitement.

In November, Luigi Antonio was officially born to Fabian and Sarah, and the now uncle Keith could not help but express his joy. It seems as though the bond between uncle and nephew only grew stronger as Keith is now set to become Luigi’s very own godfather.

And we can only guess what Keith’s response to the question, presented in adorable fashion, was.

Pieta football supporters exploded in cheers as their favourite team managed to snatch a last minute draw during a very important match.

Pieta Hotspurs are currently competing in Malta’s Challenge League Group B and currently stand in second place with a very good chance of being promoted.

On the 4th of April they faced off against Tarxien, who occupy 4th place and sat just two point behind Pieta. A win would have meant that Tarxien would replace their second place ranking.

This seemed to be the case throughout the match as tensions rose with every kick and pass. However, this all changed in the 90th minute. As Tarxien enjoyed a comfortable lead throughout the whole play, Pieta Head Coach Paul Gatt brought in superb-sub Paul Lapira.

The player entered the 82nd minute and managed to change up the score during the dying minutes of the game. Lapira provided an assist to Daniel Zerafa in the 90th minute and then score one himself during the 94th.

The electrifying comeback just when all seemed lost meant that Pieta could hold their 2nd place as well as a massive double celebration for Pieta supporters in the stands.
