Force 9 winds to batter Malta on Good Friday

Force 9 winds to batter Malta on Good Friday
Apr 13 2022 Share

Malta is set to be in for some very windy days as the country prepares for Good Friday. Today, Wednesday 13th April, Malta is set to be hit by Force 6 winds from the East.

The winds are only set to increase as the days go by, ramping up to Force 7 and 8 by tomorrow, Thursday 14th.

But as Malta is set to once again commemorate Good Friday following three years of pandemic hiatus, the wind is set to pose a bit of a problem as it increases to Force 8 and possibly 9.

The Force 9 winds are set to hit between 2am and 2pm due to a streak of stable air coming into contact with a cold front, forming several strong currents from the North-East.

According to Malta Airport weather forecasts, the temperatures are set to drop to 18 degrees Celsius on Friday, with even some isolated showers on Saturday. The weather is set to open up with clear skies on Easter Sunday.

Apr 12 2022 Share

Steve Sammut Nurminen is about to embark on his longest run to date all in the name of a charitable and noble causee this July – and he needs all the support that can be mustered!

The runner could possibly achieve the farthest ever run by a Maltese national in one single run. He will be covering a distance of 360km across the island of Sicily, starting off in Syracuse and ending in Trapani. The challenge will be time capped at 2 and a half days.

The scope of this run is to raise awareness around mental health, as Steve will be teaming up with the Richmond Foundation to encourage people to donate towards the cause.

Steve has set a target of €5,000 as he hopes to motivate and inspire as many people as possible to lead an active and healthy lifestyle, considering that this is very lacking in Malta.

He will not be alone on the journey, as a team of supporters will be ensuring that he has the right nutrition and recovery. A live tracker will be set up in case anyone will be interested in checking on his run.
