After falling behind early in the second half of their Europa Conference League match, Floriana rallied to win. In just eight minutes, they scored three goals to defeat the San Marino squad, Tre Penne.
With a good showing against Partizani of Albania, Marsaxlokk made a successful comeback to European football, tying 1-1. They gave themselves hope going into the next home leg despite letting up a goal as soon as the game began thanks to a fantastic effort by star player Yuri, who levelled the score.
After replacing Mauro Camoranesi in his 27th European game, Floriana’s new coach Darren Abdilla won his eighth game in the league. He unveiled new players, such as left-footed Thiaguinho and goaltender Christoffer Mafoumbi. Despite Floriana’s attacking effort, Tommaso Guidi of Tre Penne scored the first goal. But Thiaguinho, Dunstan Vella, and Kyrian Nwoko scored for Floriana right away to change the tide of play.
Yuri Messias’s goal for Marsaxlokk, which included a number of debutants including Nikola Raden, Lucas Lopez, and Jefferson, was enough to offset Partizani’s early lead. Igor Goularte failed to convert a crucial opportunity, and they squandered late opportunities to win.
The performances of Floriana and Marsaxlokk gave their respective Europa Conference League campaigns a good start.
