Hamrun Spartans officials raised their concerns for the wellbeing of the players and the supporters, with the away fans being surrounded by a big number of police personnel.

International Hamrun goalkeeper Federico Marchetti was seen kicking the flares and extinguishing the flames off the pitch, with members of the police force also seen on the pitch.

Hamrun Spartans seemed to be the most dangerous side after having 3 very close chances to gain the lead but conceded 2 quick goals late during the first half.

Jul 11 2023 Share

15,000 signatures have been inputted into a petition calling for a public inquiry into the death of Jean Paul Sofia after 5 days since its launch.

The petition was created by his mother Isabelle Bonnici through change.org and anticipates a vote which is set to take place in parliament this Wednesday.

The petition’s goal has now moved to 25,000 signatures, with the petition asking the government to open a public inquiry instead of a magisterial inquiry into the tragedy.

Various political figures and activists have been calling for a public inquiry into the death which took place last December in Corradino.

So far, the government has not shifted the inquiry into a public one, with many asking why and who is being protected behind the magisterial inquiry.

You can find the petition here.
