Five arrested in connection with Lady Gaga dog theft case

Five arrested in connection with Lady Gaga dog theft case
Apr 30 2021 Share

News hit last February that Lady Gaga’s French Bulldogs had been stolen and her dogwalker Ryan Fischer had been shot and injured for trying to protect the dogs. Now, five people, including the woman who returned the dogs, have been arrested in connection with the theft. It seems, as investigations are revealing, that the robbers were unaware that the canines belonged to the pop-star.

It seems that the theft occurred due to French Bulldogs having a high monetary value, with the connection to Gaga being a mere coincidence. The dogs were returned two days after the incident by a woman who seemed to be unassociated with the crime. It was learned however that the woman was involved romantically with the father of one of the suspects. The story continues to develop as all five are being held on $1m bail each.

Today, the 30th of April 2021, Keith Demicoli officially ends his career as a journalist at TVM. Posting to Facebook, Keane Cutajar, who has been coached by Demicoli, bids him a sweet farewell and a big good luck on his future endeavours. Cutajar states that Keith had acted as everything from his ‘football coach… to someone [he] admire[s] on TV… to someone [he] aspires to be like… to a colleague.’

Cutajar thanks him for all of his service and being a source of inspiration. We cannot help but agree with Cutajar as Demicoli has proven to be on of Malta’s most iconic journalists and newscasters. As the 13-year-journey comes to an end, we all bid farewell to the presenter and cannot wait to see what the next chapter in his career will be.

Dozens crushed to death at religious festival in Israel

Dozens crushed to death at religious festival in Israel
Apr 30 2021 Share

As 100,000 rushed to the Galilee tomb of 2 CE sage Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai for the annual Lag BaOmer commemorations, 44 people have been killed and 150 injured in a crowd crush in the northern Israel gathering. Taking place during one of Israels worst peacetime disasters, director of an Israeli volunteer ambulance, Eli Beer, said that even children were found among those dead.

Permission had only been given to 10,000 people to attend the festival at Mount Meron, which was the largest event held in Israel since the COVID-19 pandemic struck. Footage showed how people were allegedly trampled or asphyxiated in a narrow passageway as they attempted to exit, with the cause of the crushing being so far unconfirmed. Corrugated iron walls were frantically pulled at in the confusion and mobile phone reception crashed as families desperately tried to contact missing loved ones.
