In a recent morning patrol along the picturesque shores of Ramla l-Hamra in Gozo, the dedicated Wildlife Rescue Team made a remarkable discovery. They stumbled upon a turtle crawl, indicating that a turtle had ventured onto the beach to lay its eggs. Recognising the significance of this find, the team wasted no time in sharing the news on social media, ensuring that the community was aware of the remarkable occurrence.
Understanding the importance of their discovery, the Wildlife Rescue Team swiftly contacted the officials from ERA – Environment & Resources Authority. Realising the urgency, both teams joined forces and gathered at the site to investigate further. Their collective efforts led to the confirmation of a nesting chamber, solidifying the presence of a turtle nest.
To further support their cause, the Wildlife Rescue Team extended an open invitation to individuals eager to contribute to the protection of these majestic creatures. They encouraged interested volunteers to reach out via email at [email protected] for more details on how they could get involved.
The tireless efforts of passionate individuals like Betty and Samuel, who had a keen eye for the turtle crawl, were applauded. The Wildlife Rescue Team also expressed their gratitude to ERA for their swift response and collaborative spirit, emphasising the significance of such partnerships in safeguarding wildlife and their habitats.
