Malta has officially welcomed the first consignment of the AstraZeneca vaccine, which arrived at the Malta International Airport on Sunday at 11PM.
Prime Minister Robert Abela welcomed this consignment with open arms, taking to social media to highlight the arrival of the vaccine as ‘another important milestone in our plan to take us back to normality’.
So far, 37,586 vaccines have been administered, with 8,749 being second doses.

This match may be more important to Liverpool have a mountain to climb but Man City are currently holding first place.

The UK has announced that all people arrived from countries which are marked as high risk, will be requested to fulfil a mandatory quarantine in a hotel for 10 days.
Further details will be given next week regarding how people are to book such facilities when landing in the UK.
A Department of Health and Social Care spokesperson said that this measure was needed in order to reduce the threat posed by new variants of the disease.

Malta has registered 100 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 3,048 swab tests, while 157 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.
As of Saturday 6th January 2021, 37,586 vaccine doses were administered.
To date, Malta has registered 18,676 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 16,053 have recovered, 282 died and 2,341 are still active.
