Malta has just had the first baby born through sperm donations, as the Maltese government focuses on amending the laws concerning IVF and other practices.
Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne discussed how last year, assisted procreation was given to several women as they longed to bring in a new member into their family.
Thanks to advanced technology and amendments assisting parents, 404 babies were born through the process in the last 9 years. Out of nine interventions involving sperm donations last year, two pregnancies were successful and one baby was born through sperm donation.
The health minister called all these new births ‘little miracles’, and such achievements urge him to push for more amendments in this sector to give families new opportunities.
