Finland’s Erika Vikman Says Miriana’s Song Her Favourite

Finland’s Eurovision representative for this year, Erika Vikman, shared a story to her Instagram revealing that her favourite song for this year is Malta’s Miriana Conte’s ‘SERVING’.

Responding to a question, she said that Miriana’s song is her favourite, saying:

‘Because we have the same message, same experiences. I’ve been serving (kant) so many years, so it is empowering for me.’

Miriana re-shared the story, writing ‘Bestie’ – and ‘besties’ indeed, given the strong connection the two developed during their Eurovision 2025 journey.

Fifth Edition Of Il-Mxegħila Ta’ Ħamis Ix-Xirka In Fgura

The Fgura Local council will be organising the fifth edition of Il-Mxegħila Ta’ Ħamis ix-xirka which will take place on the 17th of April.

Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government, Alison Zerafa Civelli together with Mayor of Fgura, Clayton Portelli Cascun and the Director of Local councils, Marisa Pisani made this announcement.

A number of designs with religious symbols made out of candles will be displayed in the Fgura Parish church square, aiming to immerse all those visiting for the event.

“The Fgura Local Council is well-known for its events throughout the year, and Holy Week is no exception,” said Zerafa Civelli. “Through this event, the council ensures that residents have meaningful activities to participate in within their own locality, while also welcoming visitors from beyond Fgura.”

Mayor of Fgura emphasised, “The council has always supported activities in the locality to foster a greater sense of community among Fgura’s residents.”

Iconic Song ‘Xemx’ Turns 50 Years Old This Year

This year’s Memorji concert holds a special place in Malta’s cultural calendar as it commemorates the 50th anniversary of Xemx—the timeless Maltese classic by The Tramps.

Composed by the late Domenic Grech in the 1970s, Xemx was written for his then-girlfriend, Pauline, and dedicated to Our Lady. Over the decades, it has become an enduring symbol of Maltese identity, sung at weddings, cherished by the diaspora, and interpreted by international artists such as André Rieu and The Tenors.

To mark this milestone, Memorji returns for its third edition on Friday 2nd May at 21:00, transforming St. Francis Square in Victoria into a stage for Gozo’s musical heritage.

The open-air concert is free to attend and promises an evocative blend of beloved local compositions, long-lost gems, and international favourites.

This year’s stellar line-up features Ivan Grech, Pamela Bezzina, Daniel Cauchi, Sarah Bonnici, and John Cassar (il-Cash), accompanied by the Memorji band and backing vocalists. The event is produced by Richard Grech, son of Domenic, and his brother Mark Grech, who continue to reimagine and revive the sounds of Gozo’s past.

“Memorji will continue to revive the musical essence of St. Francis Square,” says Richard. “And this year, with the 50th anniversary since Xemx was published, we’re remembering and celebrating.”

Hosted by Keane Cutajar and Clare Agius, Memorji is organised in collaboration with the Cultural Heritage Directorate within the Ministry for Gozo and Planning, making it the perfect cultural highlight for the long weekend following the 1st May holiday.

The first season of Big Brother Malta wrapped up after three months of high-stakes drama, emotional twists, and unforgettable moments, the show’s statistics are here.

One winner emerged from the original 15 housemates, but behind the scenes, the scale of the production was just as impressive. The Big Brother house operated with a network of 50 cameras, connected by over 11,800 metres of wire, capturing every moment 24/7.

the production involved more than 200 staff members and over 500 contributors.

In total, the show aired 121,139 minutes of content and attracted an average of 221,000 weekly viewers.

Over 750 people applied to join the house, and the season generated a massive 240,000+ viewer votes.
