Hundreds gathered this afternoon at Balluta Church to bid farewell to former PN minister Francis Zammit Dimech.

The procession began with a slow march by a brass band along the Balluta promenade, leading mourners into the church where an orchestra stood in silent tribute.

The ceremony brought together a broad spectrum of attendees. Among them were Prime Minister Robert Abela, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, Opposition Leader Bernard Grech, Labour’s Parliamentary Secretary Rebecca Buttigieg.

Zammit Dimech’s public service spanned decades, starting with his first election to Parliament in 1987. Known for championing liberal reforms, particularly the modernisation of Malta’s telecommunications sector in the early 1990s, he later held key ministerial roles including Tourism, Environment, Foreign Affairs, and Transport.

Rest in peace, and condolences to all loved ones.
