The largest grape producing locality in Malta, with more than 500,000 square meters of vineyards, is once again organizing a highly anticipated event celebrating the production of this fruit and its derived products.
Over the years, the various vineyards and produced grapes coming out of the locality of Siġġiewi have shaped a new cultural tradition for the Maltese town.
Those present will be able to taste locally produced grapes, as well as a variety of food and drink products made from this fruit.
Siġġiewi will also celebrate the grape named after a rural area in the same village, the Girgentina, with a drink prepared for the first time at Festa Għeneb: Girgentina Spritz.
The homemade wine competition will also return at Festa Għeneb in Siġġiewi, an event that sparks the interest of producers from both Siġġiewi and all over Malta.
Those interested in participating in the wine competition can register at the Siġġiewi Civic Center on the 11th and 12th of September 2024 between 5 pm and 7 pm.
The Festa Għeneb in Siġġiewi will be an evening of Maltese tradition, where one can find traditional Maltese food, Maltese wine, an exhibition of over 15 varieties of locally produced grapes, agricultural tools, a children’s area, and a show featuring singing and dancing, among other activities.
The event will take place next Saturday, September 14th, 2024, from 6 pm onwards in St. Nicholas Square, Siġġiewi. It is organized by the Siġġiewi Local Council with the support of the Parliamentary Secretariat for Local Government and the Western Region.
This event is held in aid of the Dar tal-Providenza. For more information, follow the page https://www.facebook.com/festagheneb.
