In a devastating incident that unfolded yesterday evening, a 50-year-old man tragically lost his life in a factory mishap that has sent shockwaves through the tight-knit community. The incident occurred around 7:00 PM, prompting a swift response from local authorities.
According to initial reports, Police received an urgent distress call, summoning them to a factory in the area. The dire situation required immediate assistance, and both medical personnel and members of the Department of Civil Protection rushed to the scene.
The victim, identified as a resident of Nadur, was reportedly operating a skip loader truck within the factory premises when the unthinkable transpired. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the man had disembarked from the truck, possibly for a routine check or maintenance task. It was at this critical juncture that the situation took a tragic turn.
For reasons that are still under scrutiny, the truck unexpectedly shifted into reverse, catching the man off-guard. In a heart-wrenching sequence of events, the victim became trapped between the relentless force of the reversing truck and an unyielding factory wall. Despite the desperate attempts of the medical team and Civil Protection members, the man’s life could not be saved, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
As the grief-stricken community grapples with the shock of this incident, questions abound about the circumstances that led to this fatal outcome. Police notified Police Magistrate Brigitte Sultana, who has taken charge of the case and initiated an official inquiry.
