Pressure washers

Whether it’s a car or a boat you own, cleanliness is key during the summer months. Man attacks partner with broken glass after police enter house

Man attacks partner with broken glass after police enter house
Jun 13 2022 Share

A 40-year-old man from Floriana was remanded in custody Monday morning after was charged for attacking his partner with a broken glass shard during a domestic argument.

A father of two, the man appeared before a magistrate this morning accused of attacking the woman, inflicting grievous injuries on her as well as subjecting her to sexual advances.

Police had received reports of shouting and sounds of conflict from the accused’s residence. Officers dispatched to investigate found the alleged victim’s mother banging on the door and screaming to be let in.

The police forced open the door, discovering the accused unclothed and attacking the victim with a piece of glass. The injuries were inflicted on the woman by glass from a broken mirror.

Asked by the accused’s defence lawyer, the inspector revealed that the woman had never filed a police report about the accused. However, the inspector said that the footage from the arresting officers’ body cam was self-explanatory.

Bail for the accused was requested against objections from the inspector in view of the nature of the charges. The victim had not wanted the police to prosecute the man as he was ‘going through a rough patch’ and had two children.

The lawyer claimed the case had been completely invented by the prosecution, accusing the inspector of dismissing expert advice and extrapolating the charges. The court denied the request, saying that this could mean that the accused might tamper with evidence were he to be released.
