Throughout Sunday, numerous individuals attended the opening of the ECOHIVE Academy.
The center’s goal is to enhance awareness about the circular economy and waste management to transform it into a resource. Children had the chance to engage with augmented reality, digital games, and interactive exhibits at the center.
The facility is divided into zones, each focusing on different waste management facilities that will be part of the ECOHIVE project. Upon entry, children were provided with tablets containing QR codes in each zone, allowing them to play digital games and learn more about waste processing.
For this occasion, families visiting the center also enjoyed various activities and family entertainment at the Marsaskala Family Park. Besides traditional games and other activities, children also had the opportunity to meet WasteServ’s three mascots – General Buzz, Commander Yellow, and the Garbage Monster. Visitors also witnessed K-9 dog shows inside the Kordin Corrective Facility and interacted with participants from MasterChef Malta.
Minister for the Environment, Energy, and Port Regeneration, Miriam Dalli, also graced the Open Day, where she met with families visiting the ECOHIVE Academy.
