Families Attend Opening Of ECOHIVE Academy In Marsaskala

Throughout Sunday, numerous individuals attended the opening of the ECOHIVE Academy.

The center’s goal is to enhance awareness about the circular economy and waste management to transform it into a resource. Children had the chance to engage with augmented reality, digital games, and interactive exhibits at the center.

The facility is divided into zones, each focusing on different waste management facilities that will be part of the ECOHIVE project. Upon entry, children were provided with tablets containing QR codes in each zone, allowing them to play digital games and learn more about waste processing.

For this occasion, families visiting the center also enjoyed various activities and family entertainment at the Marsaskala Family Park. Besides traditional games and other activities, children also had the opportunity to meet WasteServ’s three mascots – General Buzz, Commander Yellow, and the Garbage Monster. Visitors also witnessed K-9 dog shows inside the Kordin Corrective Facility and interacted with participants from MasterChef Malta.

Minister for the Environment, Energy, and Port Regeneration, Miriam Dalli, also graced the Open Day, where she met with families visiting the ECOHIVE Academy.

11 Year Old Girl At Risk Of Dying After Being Hit By Car

This morning, at around 0700hrs, police were informed of a traffic accident which took place in Triq Fisher, l-Imġarr.

Police officials and an emergency doctor gave first assistance to a 11 year old girl, who, according to preliminary investigations, was reportedly hit by a Peugeot 308 driven by a 55 year old man resident of St Paul’s Bay.

A medical team arrived on site and gave further assistance, transporting the girl to Mater Dei Hospital. The girl was certified as having suffered serious injuries.

The driver was also taken to Mater Dei Hospital for suffering shock. An inquiry has been opened and investigations are still ongoing.

In an open weekend, Civil Protection Malta invited the public for two days full of activities – giving a glimpse to the audience into the hard work that goes into their service.

With showcases of rescues from crash sites as well as activities for kids, the public were treated to a wide range of displays relating to their work – as well as some live entertainment.

Labour & Nationalist Parties Launch Official Campaigns For June

The Labour Party and the Nationalist Party have officially launched their campaigns for the European Parliament and Local Council elections this June.

Prime Minister Robert Abela announced the Labour Party’s campaign with a theme centred around ‘Strength to the Maltese’ (Saħħa lill-Maltin).

On his part, Nationalist Party leader Bernard Grech addressed a political activity at the Pieta headquarters, saying that Malta and Gozo should be represented as best they can at the EU level but also at the local level.

Prime Minister Robert Abela emphasized during the Labour Party General Conference that the upcoming election concerns all citizens. He affirmed that the Labour Party negotiates for Malta’s interests in Brussels, including its neutrality, and highlighted Malta’s economic progress despite challenges like the pandemic and inflation.

Meanwhile, Bernard Grech criticized the government’s lack of direction and accused it of creating problems for the people. He condemned the government’s pardon for fraudsters and highlighted issues faced by families, construction victims, and patients. Grech also discussed the Nationalist Party’s proposals for addressing the cost of living.
