Fabio Spiteri has made history as the first Maltese athlete to reach the podium at a World Cup IUTA Ultra event, setting a new national record in the process.
Completing an astonishing 10 “Ironman” distances in under 10 days, Fabio covered a total of 38km swimming, 1,800km cycling, and 422km running in a time of 233 hours and 39 minutes. This smashed his previous record by an incredible 31 hours.
His outstanding performance earned him 2nd place in the male category and 1st place in the over-50 age group at this prestigious World Cup event.
Fabio credits his success to his dedicated support crew, Philip Cachia and Moudy El Laz, who stood by him through the toughest moments of the race, including when he nearly quit on Day 2.
“I only ask one favour,” said Fabio. “If my journey has inspired you, please consider donating to my cause Project 100. I’m aiming to raise €100,000 for all animal shelters across Malta and Gozo.”
