Every Year, More People In Malta Feel Less Broke

Big news from the latest State of the Nation survey – people in Malta say their quality of life is getting better, and parents with kids are leading the way!

While many say their living standard has stayed the same, something big is changing. Fewer people now think they’re living just an average life. Why? Because more say their quality of life is now above average!

Here’s the jaw-dropper:

27.7% of people with children under 16 said their quality of life is better than average. That’s more than double the amount of those without kids, only 12.7%.

When it comes to money, the story is mixed:

Nearly half the country (47.6%) said their financial situation stayed the same as last year.

But a hopeful 34.8% said things got better, while only 17.6% said they’re worse off.

And every year, more people are saying their money situation is improving.

There’s even good news about rights.

Most people (63.6%) believe their rights are being protected. And for the first time in years, fewer people are worried about losing their rights – dropping to just 5.3% this year.

Young people are the most confident. Around 76.2% of those under 35 said their rights are being respected.

So while life’s not perfect, the numbers say one thing loud and clear – more people are feeling secure, hopeful, and living better than before.

Breaking: Gozitans Happier Than Maltese

A big rise in happiness has been revealed in this year’s State of the Nation survey – and Gozo is leading the way!

In 2025, 72.1% of people said they are happy with their life. That’s a jump of 6.6% from last year. And guess what? Gozitans are the happiest of all, with a massive 82.8% saying they feel good about their lives.

But that’s not all. This year also saw the highest number of people ever saying they feel successful. A huge 73.9% of people said they feel they have succeeded in life. Even more shocking, over 90% of those who pay the highest income tax said they feel successful – an incredible 90.4%!

The survey also found that more people believe they’ll be living a better life within a year. In 2023, only 39.1% believed that. Now in 2025, that number has grown to 47%.

Young people are the most hopeful. An unbelievable 79.1% of young people think their life will get better in the next 12 months.

The survey, revealed today at Verdala Palace under the patronage of President Myriam Spiteri Debono, was led by consultant Lou Bondi and statistician Vincent Marmara.

This report shows something clear: more people are smiling, dreaming, and believing in a better future.

Shock Stats: Most Maltese Don’t Plan Their Lives!

A shocking new survey has revealed that less people are planning their lives than before – and the numbers might surprise you.

The results come from the State of the Nation annual survey, now in its fifth edition, which was revealed today, 6 June, at the stunning Verdala Palace. The event was led by media consultant Lou Bondi and top statistician Vincent Marmara, under the patronage of President Myriam Spiteri Debono.

From 2021 to 2024, fewer and fewer people said they were planning their future. But in 2025, the trend shifted slightly, with a small increase in those who said they do plan their life. Still, the overall drop is worrying.

But here’s where it gets juicy:

The people who pay the highest income tax are the ones who plan their lives the most.

Parents with kids under 16 are big planners (64.9%), compared to just 44.3% of those without children.

And the higher someone’s education, the more likely they are to plan ahead.

Experts say money, family, and school could be the biggest reasons why people do or don’t think about the future.

Are we becoming a nation of people just making it up as we go? Or is something deeper going on? Either way, the State of the Nation report has everyone talking!

A Maltese rapper, Rheez, is currently going viral on TikTok for his blend of Maltese and English rap.

In videos shared to social media, Rheez blends the two languages and is acquiring thousands, sometimes millions, of views on the platform.

In one of his latest Maltese and English raps, he accumulated over 245.4K views as he code-switched and maintained his musical flow.

This isn’t the first time Rheez went viral, one time appearing on a street interview video and tried to get the interviewer to guess where he’s from with multiple hints and literal tattoos of Malta.
