Brussels has set aside € 100 million for faster coronavirus test research and production as Europe faces a second wave of COVID-19 outbreak. The coronavirus antigen test is not known to be as accurate as the so-called “PCR test” in which a sample taken from the nasal swab is sent to a laboratory for examination.
But it is faster, with results available at the testing point within 15 minutes, and European experts agree that the virus is now moving too rapidly to rely on tests that can take days.
