Flight tracking data suggested that the plane made a sudden dip dropping 6,000 feet in a matter of minutes. The flight was carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew members.

The airline in a statement also offered their deepest condolences to the family of the deceased who as of right now remains unnamed.

One passenger revealed to Reuters news that the plane suddenly started “tilting up and there was shaking”.

28-year old student Dzafran Azmir continued on by stating “So I started bracing for what was happening, and very suddenly there was a very dramatic drop so everyone seated and not wearing seatbelt was launched immediately into the ceiling,”

“Some people hit their heads on the baggage cabins overhead and dented it, they hit the places where lights and masks are and broke straight through it.”

Singapore Airline later confirmed that 31 passengers were taken to hospital and that the remaining passengers and crew were examined and given treatment at Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

After a warning was issued that St George’s Bay in St Julian’s was contaminated by E. Coli and I. Enterococci, a similar warning was issued for part of Balluta Bay.

According to the Bathing Water Directive, the Environmental Health Directorate of the Superintendence of Public Health has issued a notification advising against bathing until further notice.

Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) are actively investigating to identify the source of contamination. However, the duration of this contamination remains uncertain at this stage.

Infections caused by Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria can result in severe, bloody diarrhea. In addition, they may lead to urinary tract infections, pneumonia, meningitis, bacteremia (a bacterial infection in the bloodstream), or sepsis (a life-threatening systemic reaction to bacteremia).

Meanwhile, Enterococci are capable of causing urinary tract infections (UTIs), bacteremia, infective endocarditis (IE), meningitis, intra-abdominal infections, and wound infections. Strains that are resistant to antibiotics may necessitate extended treatment courses.

Keith Schembri, Konrad Mizzi Demand Immediate Full Disclosure

Keith Schembri, Konrad Mizzi Demand Immediate Full Disclosure
May 21 2024 Share

Keith Schembri and Konrad Mizzi claimed that the Attorney General and Police Commissioner are withholding crucial documents from the Vitals inquiry, violating their rights to full disclosure and a fair trial. They made this assertion in judicial protests filed against the officials.

The protests followed the notification of criminal charges, including money laundering, bribery, and forming a criminal association, stemming from a lengthy inquiry into the Vitals hospitals ordeal.

Schembri and Mizzi, along with former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, are scheduled for arraignment next Tuesday.

They argued that they were not consulted before the charges were filed and have not received all the necessary documentation, specifically the appendices to the inquiry report.

The Attorney General maintained that the required process verbal and material evidence from parallel investigations were provided as mandated.

Schembri and Mizzi’s lawyers insisted that suspects have the right to all material evidence for a fair trial under the Criminal Code and the European Convention on Human Rights. They demanded immediate full disclosure and warned of potential constitutional proceedings if their rights were not upheld.

Additionally, they opposed Repubblika’s bid to be recognised as an injured party in the case, dismissing it as a baseless legal manoeuvre. Lawyers Edward Gatt, Mark Vassallo, and Shaun Zammit signed the judicial acts, criticising Repubblika’s actions as frivolous.
