Pharmaceutical company Moderna is working to have a vaccine booster shot for the Omicron variant ready by August of this year.

The booster began its clinical trials last month, but initial tests did not yield positive enough results as the doses did not provide adequate protection.

The company is therefore aiming to issue the jabs by August, stating that it will be needed against the South-Africa discovered variant which emerged late last year.

It is unclear whether the vaccine will specifically and only target Omicron or whether it will be effective other already existing strains of the virus.

Infrastructure Malta revealed that following the tragic incident which took the life of a Nepalese food-courier after a truck overturned, workers spent the night making sure the area is safe for use by drivers and other people.

The workers spent the night replacing the steel crash barriers which were damaged by the incident. All 10 lanes of the road were subsequently reopened for usage, with final repairs continuing later during the day yesterday.

Aldo Moro is a main arterial route frequently occupied by commuters, especially during the morning and post-work rush. Many commended the work done by the authorities and the swiftness at which this was done.

Of course, the passing of Ajay Shrestha shook the entire island and the Nepalese community in particular. The repatriation of his body is currently being discussed as his friends and family require their beloved’s body for the funeral rite.
