For the first time in Maltese football history, an entire match week from the 360Sports Malta Premier League (MPL) will be played in Gozo, bringing top-flight football action to the island.
This exciting initiative, set to take place from March 28 to March 31, will see Match Day 27 unfold at the Gozo Stadium, just before the league splits into the decisive Top 6 and Bottom 6 phases.
This event is a major milestone for both Gozitan football fans and the local economy. Minister for Gozo & Planning, Hon. Clint Camilleri, emphasized the significance of this moment, recalling Gozo FC’s sole participation in the Maltese top division in the 1999/2000 season.
While Gozitan supporters have long been dedicated followers of the league, this historic weekend allows them to experience top-tier football on home soil.
The Gozo Weekender also offers Maltese supporters a chance to enjoy a football-filled getaway, with several clubs organizing weekend packages.
Fans can expect an electrifying atmosphere, made possible through the efforts of the Gozo Football Association (GFA) and MPL club members, who eagerly embraced this opportunity.
