Despite making it to the final during the last finale of EURO 2020 against Italy, no team has played as many games as England (38 games) without ever winning.

The team is set to face off against Serbia in Group C in Gelsenkirchen at 21:00 right off the back of a 1-0 friendly loss against Iceland.

Ahead of the anticipated face-off by last EURO runner-up however are Poland and Netherlands at 15:00 in Hamburg for Group D, followed by Slovenia and Denmark at 18:00 in Stuttgart.

Poland have not won in the last 12 games against the same opponents they face tonight since 1970. Meanwhile, Slovenia have yet to win a game against Denmark.

Saturday 15th June saw the second day of EURO 2024 matches, with Italy, despite suffering the earliest goal by their opponents Albania, continue their streak of never losing an opening game.

However, the highlight of the match was arguably Nedim Barjami’s strike after just 23 seconds from the start of the match.

Playing in Dortmund, the Italians still managed to recover from the quickest goal in the tournaments 64 year history.

The former managed to equalise within just 16 minutes thanks to Lorenzo Pellegrini’s 11th minute goal. Nicolo Barella secured the victory at the 16 minute mark.

Protest Against Take-Up Of Public Space In St George’s Square

Protest Against Take-Up Of Public Space In St George’s Square

On Saturday, demonstrators gathered in Victoria to protest against the takeover of streets and pavements by restaurants.

Activists from Moviment Graffitti, Għawdix, Din l-Art Ħelwa – Għawdex, and Flimkien għal Ambjent Aħjar were joined by local band clubs, Il-Ħaġar museum representatives, councillors, and parishioners.

They condemned the complete occupation of St George’s Square by restaurants, blocking all four entrances with tents, tables, and chairs while authorities failed to enforce regulations.

Frustration has been mounting for months, with the archpriest of St George’s Basilica publicly voicing grievances in March. Demonstrators decried the encroachment as prioritizing commercial interests over community needs.

This protest is part of Moviment Graffitti’s broader campaign, ‘Il-Bankini taċ-Ċittadini,’ which opposes rampant commercial encroachment in various towns, including Sliema, Valletta, and Marsaxlokk.

The excessive commercialisation has disrupted social and cultural life, making it difficult to hold weddings, funerals, and religious events.

Local band club Soċjetà Filarmonika La Stella also reported difficulties organizing the local feast. Despite Prime Minister Robert Abela’s statement on the issue, campaigners’ demands remain unanswered, and enforcement remains lax.
