Eminem finally opens new restaurant ‘Mom’s spaghetti’ at Detroit

Legendary rapper Marshall Mathers more popularly found as Eminem has finally opened his restaurant ‘Mom’s Spaghetti’ in Detroit , where he took orders himself during the opening event.

Mathers occupied the takeaway window where fans were able to grab an order of spaghetti for $9 and get meatballs or vegan balls for an extra $3-$5. Hundreds of people queued from the early hours in a line that stretched across multiple blocks in the Detroit area. One person reportedly burst into tears at the sight of Eminem, with Eminem happy to share a few moments with the fans, along with a cheeky selfie.

The name of the restaurant comes from Eminem’s hit 2002 track ‘Lose Yourself’, which line has become an iconic moment in music history and a nugget of meme gold. Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg stated that the project was “a lot of fun” and praised the overwhelmingly positive feedback given by the fans.

Nice guy Eminem even donated some containers of spaghetti to frontline workers who provided their services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Miami vibes? Planning Authority approved Birzebbuga regeneration project

The Planning Authority has approved a €3,500,000 project intended at regenerating the Birzebbuga promenade, which is set to give life to an iconic Maltese location.

In a press release published by the Ministry for Tourism, it was revealed that the project will incorporate various instance of improvement and regeneration along the coastline of Triq San Patrizju which does not only include regeneration, but development of public facilities, the construction of a cistern, improvement of the water system and reorganisation of public transport shelters.

Works are expected to start next year and be completed towards the end of 2024 and will complement other Birzebbugia projects such as the Bengħajsa park and construction of a the parking area which will hopefully improve the quality of life and touristic product in the south of Malta.

Contractor denied bail after ‘dumping’ injured migrant in Mellieħa

Contractor Glen Farrugia has been denied bail and charged with the grievous bodily harm of migrant worker Lamin Jaiteh after pleading not guilty to these claims and others in court earlier today.

Migrant construction worker Lamin Jaiteh was abandoned on the side of a Selmun Road in Mellieħa after falling two storeys in a construction site being worked on by Farrugia’s company J&G Contractors Limited. Jaiteh was found injured and in tears, fearing that he will go to prison. The contractor was also charged with tampering of evidence after trying to cover up the incident by removing Jaiteh from the scene on Tuesday.

Farrugia is said to have denied a long list of charges which include breach of employment and health & safety laws, tampering with evidence and more. His defence lawyers Franco Debono and Matthew Xuereb argued the validity of the arrest based on the fact that the claims were made by Jaiteh himself in addition to Farrugia not formally being told he was under arrest.

Ian borg welcomes trees planted in Rabat after public call for greenery

Triq Għeriexem in Rabat will now enjoy a greener facade after a number of trees were planted to complement the newly-erected belvedere in Rabat.

Minister Ian Borg took to Facebook to welcome the newly-planted trees after multiple calls for increased greenery in Rabat and beyond. The post was flooded with comments congratulating the minister for planting the trees, amongst them green activist Cami Applegren who stated that it is “nice to see proper trees and not saplings as well as proper distance between them.”

Minister Borg was recently feature in a locally-developed app ‘The Malta ChIANsaw Massacre, a side-scrolling game where the Minister wields a chainsaw and throws lemons to anyone in his way as he chops down as many trees as possible. Borg was a sport about and may have even taken the game’s message to heart as he welcomes the start of an increase in trees across the Maltese islands.
