Ella Eyre won’t consider representing Malta at the Eurovision BUT HERE’S WHY

While she was in Malta, we couldn’t help but ask British pop star Ella Eyre whether she would consider representing the island at the Eurovision… and you wouldn’t believe what she said.

Being of Maltese descent herself, Ella Eyre may be the secret weapon Malta oh so truly needs to potentially bag a Eurovision success, but in an exclusive interview with Malta Daily, the British hit-maker said that she wouldn’t do it because it would ruin Eurovision for her.

Being a fan herself, Ella told Sarah and Amy that she would always gather with the family to watch the popular European song contest and, if she had to participate and not perform too well, it would change the way she would look at the competition forever.

“I must be Maltese because I love it too,” Ella told Sarah and Amy. “The reason I say no is if I ever go on it and lose, I’ll never be able to watch it again. It’ll ruin it for me, the favourite time of the year will be over.”

With festa season in full blast, many are flocking to the village cores of Malta and Gozo to celebrate that which makes up a significant part of the islands’ heritage.

While the attendance of village feasts are in the thousands year after year, few celebrate the people who work tirelessly all year round behind the scenes to keep Malta’s traditions alive; so here’s to them.

Pope Francis to resign if health issues persist as Gozo cardinal remains potential successor

Pope Francis has stated that he does not exclude stepping down if his current health issues persist.

Towards the end of a papal trip to Canada, where he apologised to local indigenous community for abuses in Canadian church-run schools, the 85-year-old told reporters that he doesn’t believe that he can operate at the same pace as he used to before.

Considering both his age and limitations due to his knee injury, Pope Francis admitted that he must save himself a little to continue serving the Church, or else contemplate stepping aside.

He said that the door is open to such an option but he has yet to knock on that door. This would mean that Francis’ last visit to Malta may have been his last as Pope.

Meanwhile, Gozitan cardinal Mario Grech remains one of the potential successors of Pope Francis at the next conclave. Grech was called ‘interesting’ for having a conservative reputation but adopting a pro-Francis approach.

Minister Byron Camilleri and & wife Salome get married in gorgeous wedding

Minister Byron Camilleri and his wife Salome have finally got married, with Camilleri stating that it was the easiest ‘yes’ the couple have ever said to each other.

The Minister for Home Affairs, National Security and Law Enforcement had proposed back in 2020, after 5 years of being together with his then-girlfriend Salome. In a social media post announcing the move, Camilleri had stated that the COVID-19 virus should not postpone any more important decisions, also revealing that his partner said yes!

Prior to the proposal in 2020, the couple had been together for 5 years, getting married two years later in a gorgeous ceremony, with hundreds of comments congratulating the two on their special day.
