Election will allegedly take place on 27 November according to JD Patrick

Speaking on The Morning Vibe, JD Patrick has reported that he was commissioned by the Nationalist Party to discover and announce that the general election will take place, allegedly, on the 27 of November. He said that the PN commissioned the radio host to discover the news in ‘everyone’s best interest’, going on to alleged that the 27th of November is the chosen date.

He explains to his radio co-hosts that he wasn’t commissioned to reveal the date but to discover it. His co-hosts Martina and Jonathan Abel expressed their fair share of doubt, but also prompted further answers, with Jonathan asking when it will be announced as this would make the election super close. JD, holding up a paper with the alleged date written down, did not want to reveal any more details, but his co-hosts started to assume that it will be announced next week. So far, PM Robert Abela has remained evasive about answering questions about the election, stating instead that he wishes to focus on the implementation of the Budget.

Adele has released the perfect audition song for the next 5 years

Adele has made a massive comeback with her new single ‘Easy On Me’ following a slow-burning PR campaign. The first instalment to the artist’s music in six years has finally arrived, and its a song we will definitely be hearing in song contest audition rooms for the foreseeable future. The new song, an emotional ballad which showcases Adele’s utter mastery of her voice in full force, was released at midnight UK time. The song was the first glimpse of her ‘divorce’ album entitled ’30’. Continuing in the numerical tradition (with her previous albums being called 19, 21 and 25), 30’s first released single lets fans know why Adele decided to walk away from her marriage in 2019.

The song asks her son and ex-husband for understanding, all in goose-bump inducing melody and voice. The music video accompanying the ballad also plays with colour, shifting from black-and-white to colour as Adele asks her family to understand her decision, capturing the massive shift in her life. The song proved so powerful that it’s already in the top 10 on US Apple Music, possibly just the first achievement ahead of more to come.

Collapsed traffic lights due to evening rain remain operational

Following massive torrents of evening rain hit several parts of the island, a set of traffic lights collapsed with the green light still remaining operational. The photo was taken by Jonathan Sammut and uploaded to Facebook page ‘Malta Roads Traffic Updates’. It shows a traffic light on its side in the middle of the road, with the page warning drivers to be wary of passing through Vjal ir-Rihan, San Gwann.

The cause of the collapse was questioned by the commentators on the post. Despite the rain and wind being a major culprit, many asked whether infrastructural issues contributed to the collapse. The weather has quickly (and finally?) shifted from scorching heat waves to thunderous showers. Many pointed out whether we’ll be seeing more traffic lights dropping as autumn and winter in Malta progress while others just made light (pun intended) of the situation, with one comment even referencing Squid Game’s ‘Green Light, Red Light’ episode. Jokes aside, we hope no one got injured and we urge everyone to be careful out there!

135,690 COVID-19 vaccines sent to Rwanda from Malta

As Africa continues to experience a significant shortage of vaccine doses and low rates of vaccination, Malta has sent 135,690 doses on their way to Rwanda to help with the situation. Health Minister Chris Fearne posted to his social media, revealing that Malta will be aiding with the fight against the pandemic in countries which have had lower successes in managing the spread. Rwanda is one of the three African countries to have reached the 10% target, despite Africa experiencing massive shortages of jabs between April and June.

With citizens uncertain about their health and safety, the Rwandan government entered bilateral agreements with vaccine manufactures to get more vaccine dose access as well as engaging with COVAX facility. Rwanda has received around 3.4 million doses of the vaccine, with 1.1 million of these from COVAX, 2.1 million from bilateral agreements, and 108,000 from Africa’s CDC’s Africa Vaccine Acquisition Trust.
