The TikTok video racked up three thousand views as of time of writing, with comments sharing hearts and praise for the educators for joining the students and leaving the students with great memories of their time at the school.

Well done to all involved!

UK could introduce wristbands which change colour if drink was spiked

UK could introduce wristbands which change colour if drink was spiked
Apr 5 2023 Share

The UK could roll out ‘Date Rape’ wristbands, which change colour within two minutes of being exposed to a drop of a drink which has been spiked.

The police are set to test out the new wristbands which only require a drop of a drink from a straw to work. They will immediately change colour if the drink contains ketamine, ecstasy and common date rape drug GHB which causes drowsiness.

The wrist band still cannot identify every drug but Essex police are hoping to trial it out to see if these can be distributed across the country should manufacturers be interested in producing them.

The need for this technology comes as drink-spiking offences have reportedly soared in recent years in the country.

Under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, it is illegal to administer a substance to someone with ‘intent to overpower that person in enable sexual activity with them’ and could land offenders up to 10 years in prison.

In 2016, Essex saw 60 recorded drink-spiking offences. This jumped to 354 in 2022, which an increase of around 490%.

40 bags of trash collected in just five hours amounting to roughly 2.3 tons of waste

Apr 5 2023 Share

Nadur Nadif volunteers teamed up with Din l-Art Helwa, Santa Marija Tower Comino, The Cast-Out Project: Gozo & Malta, and 7R Lifestyle Malta to launch a cleanup campaign on the island of Comino.

The results of their joint efforts were staggering, with 140 bags of trash collected in just five hours, amounting to roughly 2.3 tons of waste.

While the initiative was lauded as a successful endeavour in conserving the island’s ecosystem, the quantity of garbage collected was shocking.

The organisers of the cleanup event are calling for more measures to be taken to address the issue. They are urging the authorities to establish an Environmental Protection Unit (EPU) and Environmental Rangers on Comino, in addition to increasing investment in the island’s cleansing department and police force.

In an issued press released, ‘Nadur Nadif’ said that “while the efforts of government agencies are necessary, visitors and tourists also play a vital role in keeping the island clean. Every individual visiting Comino, or any other environmentally protected site in Malta, must take responsibility for their actions by disposing of their waste responsibly.”

The organisers of the cleanup campaign urge everyone to participate in the conservation of such sites by organising small clean-ups around the island.

‘Nadur Nadif’ explained that “Comino is a small island that is part of the Maltese archipelago, and even though it may not be our home, it is essential to preserve its natural beauty and unique environment. The Glass Fields of Comino, one of the island’s iconic attractions, are a reminder of the fragility of our environment and the importance of taking action to protect it.”

The Nadur Nadif volunteers, together with their collaborators, demonstrated the power of collective action in conserving the environment. Their efforts have shown that it is possible to make a difference and that every individual can contribute to the preservation of our planet.

It is now up to the authorities, visitors, and residents of Comino to take the initiative and work together to ensure that the island remains a pristine and unique destination for generations to come.
