Eden Cinemas Warns Against Disruptive Minecraft Movie Behaviour

In a statement, Eden Cinemas said that whilst thrilled to welcome fans to enjoy the Minecraft Movie, all guests need to be reminded that disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.

This is in reference to the recent ‘Chicken Jockey’ trend, which has seen TikToks of movie attendees throwing popcorn and causing a general ruckus when a particular scene of the film comes on.

Eden Cinemas said that such disruptive behaviour includes ‘shouting, throwing objects (including popcorn), or disturbing others, using mobile phones during the movie’ and outright ‘taking part in TikTok or social media trends that cause disruption before, during, or after the screening.’

Anyone causing a disturbance, the statement reads, will be asked to leave immediately without any refund.

‘In serious cases, the police will be contacted’ and anyone causing damage to cinema property ‘will be held responsible and prosecuted.’

‘Help us create a respectful and enjoyable experience of all guests. Thank you for your cooperation.’

How It Must Have Been Like Discovering Malta

This week, a groundbreaking study co-led by Maltese archaeologists revealed that the first hunter-gatherers landed in Malta 1,000 years prior to what was believed to have been the first population of the Maltese islands by farmers.

The study, published in the Journal nature, and led by Professor Eleanor Scerri and Professor Nicholas Vella of the University of Malta, offered evidence that showed that the first peoples likely populated Għar Latnija in Mellieħa.

The news sparked various reactions, and one of them, by local AI creator malta.ai, took the concept and created a video of what it must have been like arriving on the island for the first time.

At Għar Latnija cave, researchers uncovered stone tools, hearths, and food remains. These included red deer, long believed extinct at the time, as well as tortoises and large now-extinct birds.

These would have been the first ‘Maltese communities’, setting the stage for the eventual population of the entire island over thousands of years.

Significant regeneration works are currently underway at the Picnic Area in Ta’ Qali, a popular weekend destination for thousands of Maltese families.

This €1 million investment aims to further improve the quality of life for visitors and enhance the park’s overall appeal.

During a site visit, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works, Omar Farrugia, joined by Jason Micallef, Head of the Ta’ Qali National Park, and architect Nadia Curmi, reviewed the progress of the upgrades taking place across the area.

Among the key developments is the replacement of the existing fencing with a safer, more secure boundary. The project also includes resurfacing the grounds, introducing soft landscaping elements, and installing new outdoor furnishings.

Two sanitary facilities have recently been reconstructed, and trenching work for improved water and drainage systems has been completed.

Farrugia highlighted how the park, which has expanded from 220,000 to 450,000 square metres of green space, exemplifies the goals of Vision Malta 2050—particularly the smart and sustainable use of land.

He noted that this site, once occupied by an illegal factory, has been transformed into Malta’s largest green space, offering a vital recreational hub for families. Jason Micallef added that works will continue to ensure year-round enjoyment for both Maltese and Gozitan visitors.

Meanwhile, final construction is ongoing on a multi-level underground car park beside the Concert Area, part of one of Malta’s largest-ever capital projects—setting the stage for a lively summer season.

Tributes Pour In For Car Accident Victim Chantalle Gauci

The woman who was fatally injured after being crushed by her own vehicle on Thursday has been identified as 38-year-old mother Chantalle Gauci.

Tributes poured in for Chantelle, with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola sharing her condolences in a heartfelt Facebook post.

“An immense shock this evening. Rest in peace, Chantalle,” wrote Metsola. Other tributes poured in, expressing the absolute shock with which the passing of Chantalle came.

According to Times of Malta, Gauci’s six-year-old daughter was inside the car at the time of the incident, which occurred on Triq L-Arċisqof Romero, near Birkirkara Road.

Investigations are still ongoing.
