Former Prime Minister of Malta and President Emeritus Eddie Fenech Adami has just turned 91 years old, with his son Beppe Fenech Adami taking to social media to wish him well on his special day.

The post quickly drew comments from various political figures who joined in celebrating the milestone.

Eddie Fenech Adami, born on February 7, 1934, dedicated his career to Maltese politics, leaving a lasting impact on the country.

In his message, Beppe shared that his father is celebrating the occasion quietly at home in Birkirkara. He expressed admiration for Eddie’s unwavering character, resilience through challenges, and the unconventional love and determination that shaped his leadership. His post ended with a simple yet heartfelt tribute: “Keep going champ.”

After resigning as Prime Minister, Fenech Adami was appointed President of Malta on April 4, 2004. He served a five-year term until April 4, 2009, when George Abela succeeded him.

All eyes on ‘Serving KANT’!

Yesterday evening saw the second Malta Eurovision Song Contest semifinal play out, with the last 8 finalists chosen for next Saturday’s big stand-off.

And one song has stuck out in terms of YouTube views – and that’s the iconic ‘KANT’, by Miriana Conte.

The performance video racked up a whopping 27K views, with the second runner up in terms of views being Kantera with 8.1K views.

KANT has been making rounds globally among the Eurovision community as many fans of the contest are absolutely digging the catchy play on words.

Miriana will still have to go through the final stage of the contest, where anything can happen!

Eurovision Song Contest 2009 winner Alexander Rybak, who represented Norway with the iconic song ‘Fairytale’ will be performing this Saturday at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest!

Malta Eurovision announced the news this morning, hyping up fans of the competition for a finale that will not be forgotten.

Rybak’s track gained worldwide acclaim with its iconic violin tune as well as its catchy dance melody, sedimenting him as one of the contest’s biggest winners.

The finale will air this Saturday 8th February, when we will also find out who will represent our country in Basel, Switzerland.

During the earlier hours of yesterday, February 6th 2025, the Malta Police Force, Transport Malta and Identity Malta, assisted by the Detention Agency, conducted inspections during traffic in Triq Garibaldi, Hal Luqa.

During the inspection, over 100 vehicles were stopped, 28 contraventions were issued in relation to road rule breaking and one was towed away. Two drivers were found driving without a valid license.

During the inspections, three foreign nationals hailing from Pakistan, Syria and Ghana were found to be living in Malta illegally.

They were transported to the detention centre for their repatriation process.
