The Eastern Regional Council has unveiled Tnax-il, a distinctive new book celebrating the heritage of the Eastern Region.
Developed as part of the 2024 Region of Culture initiatives, Tnax-il brings together the talents of 12 local authors, each contributing a story inspired by one of the twelve localities within the region.
This collection aims to strengthen cultural awareness and pride among young people, with copies being distributed free of charge to Year 5 and 6 students.
“This is an exciting moment for our community,” said Anthony Chircop, President of the Eastern Regional Council. “Tnax-il not only offers insights into our region’s unique heritage, but also inspires young readers to appreciate storytelling, tradition, and creativity as key aspects of their cultural identity.”
Parliamentary Secretary Dr. Alison Zerafa Civelli praised the initiative, highlighting how the book’s theme reflects the Eastern Region’s identity and vibrant cultural events throughout the year. “Tnax-il wonderfully captures the essence of our twelve localities, twelve authors, and twelve months of cultural celebration. This project demonstrates the power of storytelling in nurturing a strong sense of place and history among the next generation.”
By offering young readers a meaningful connection to their roots, Tnax-il encourages them to embrace and value their local heritage.
