€11 Million Worth Of Cocaine Smuggled At The Bottom Of A Ship

A collaborative effort between the Malta Police Force and Customs Officials yielded a drug bust of upwards of 97 kilos of cocaine hidden on a mercantile vessel entering the Free Port.

On Sunday morning, during a unsuspecting raid by divers of a security company commissioned by the ship’s agents, a large number of plastic wrapped packets were noted at the bottom of the ship.

The divers immediately informed the authorities, who promptly retrieved the packets for investigation. It was discovered that they were filled with cocaine, with a street market value of well over €11 million.

Investigations showed that the ship, registered in Portugal, had departed from the port of Colon in Panama on the 24th of July as it made its way to the port of Gioia Tauro in Italy.

The ship entered Malta’s Free Port in Marsaxlokk on Saturday evening. Further investigations showed that the drugs were not intended for the local market. An inquiry has been opened on the case.

Saving the Sacred Siġra tas-Salib: A Tree with a Twist of Legends and Love!

Arnold Sciberras, the charismatic Professional Pest Control Consultant, has taken on an unusual mission – to preserve a natural monument that holds a special place in the hearts of many Maltese people. It all began with a local tree that was struck by lightning, transforming its bark into a striking image of Jesus on the cross.

For believers, it became a place of pilgrimage and awe, while skeptics saw it as a psychological phenomenon called pareidolia. The Crucifix Tree, also known as the Jesus Tree, became an island legend, featuring in guidebooks and even national newspapers. However, as time passed, the tree faced decay and damage, prompting Arnold to step up with a heartfelt plea to preserve what is left of this beloved landmark.

The Exterminator team is eager to offer their contribution, free of charge, to save the tree, with one condition – to find a suitable indoor location, like a chapel or church, where it can truly be cherished and protected. Join Arnold and his team in this enchanting mission to keep the magic of the Siġra tas-Salib alive and thriving!
