Minister for Internal Affairs Byron Camilleri has revealed that the €1 million in LESA fines will be invested into various pedestrian projects within Malta and Gozo’s cities and villages.
Camilleri explained that the investment into pedestrian areas and gardens will make for more accessibility and less cars and went on to state that he gave local councils leeway to go ahead with their own projects.
President for the Association of Local Councils Mario Fava stated that this initiative started four years ago, with the initial plans being that this money would be invested back into the communities through projects such as regenerations, electric vans and security cameras, amongst others.
