During an operation at the Freeport, the Malta Police Force made a bust of over 100 kilograms of drugs suspected to be cocaine on Wednesday evening.
The street value of the drugs is estimated to reach up to €14 million, and they were found in over 50 packets hidden amongst the cables of a container which arrived in Malta from Ecuador’s port of Guayqil.
The drug bust took place during continuous surveillance taking place by the police as part of the effort against drug trafficking, assisted by the Customs Department.
An inquiry has been opened and the drugs have been confiscated as police continue their investigations.
