Drake To Take Break From Music To Focus On Health Issues

Drake, the acclaimed rapper, has announced a hiatus from his music career due to health issues, specifically stomach problems. 

This break comes shortly after releasing his new album, “For All the Dogs.” The 36-year-old Canadian artist expressed his intention to prioritize his well-being, emphasizing the need for a healthier life. 

He said how: “I’ve been having the craziest problems for years with my stomach.” Drake plans to step away from music production for an indefinite period, possibly a year or more.

“I’m going to lock the door on the studio for a little bit. I don’t even know what a little bit is. Maybe a year or something. Maybe a little longer’. 

This decision led to the postponement of several of his scheduled concerts, including performances in Toronto, Denver, New Orleans, Nashville, and Columbus, Ohio. His latest album, “For All the Dogs,” features collaborations with notable rappers like 21 Savage, J Cole, and Lil Yachty. 

The latest album cover was illustrated by his five-year-old son, Adonis, who also makes appearances in the music video for the track “8AM in Charlotte” and contributes to the rap on “Daylight.”

Strasbourg Reception Celebrates 59th Anniversary Of Malta’s Independence

Ambassador Francesca Camilleri Vettiger, Malta’s Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, hosted a reception in Strasbourg to mark Malta’s 59th Independence Anniversary. 

The event was graced by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Her Excellency Marija Pejčinović Burić, and the Parliamentary Secretary for Equality and Reforms, the Honourable Rebecca Buttigieg. About 150 distinguished guests attended, including high-ranking officials of the Council of Europe and representatives from member states and observer states, as well as members of the Maltese community in Strasbourg.

The celebration featured a delectable array of Maltese cuisine meticulously prepared by Chef Miguel Farrugia from the Institute for Tourism Studies (ITS). Traditional dishes like Pastizzi, Lampuki, Qarnit, Fenek, and Pastini tal-Lewz were savored, accompanied by a selection of Maltese wines, beer, desserts, snacks, and the popular local beverage, Kinnie.

During the speeches, Malta’s unwavering commitment to upholding the values of rule of law, human rights, and democracy was highlighted. Parliamentary Secretary Buttigieg emphasized Malta’s legislative advancements in areas like equality, combating violence, and trafficking, while stressing the government’s dedication to ongoing dialogue with the Council of Europe in anticipation of Malta’s Presidency in 2025.

Ambassador Camilleri Vettiger reiterated Malta’s active role in the Council of Europe, emphasizing its chairmanship of the North-South Centre, which promotes dialogue and cooperation between the North and South. She expressed solidarity with Ukraine, and emphasized that 2025 will be a significant year for Malta, as it marks both the Presidency and the 60th anniversary of Malta’s membership in the “common European home.”

Secretary General Pejčinović Burić praised Malta’s exemplary efforts in championing equality and civil liberties. She commended initiatives like the gender mainstreaming strategy and gender quota mechanism in Parliament, positioning Malta as a trailblazer for other Member States.

The event’s success was made possible through the generous support of sponsors, including VisitMalta, ITS, Marsovin, Cisk, Kinnie, Sunshine Snacks, Quick Turtle, Twistees, Tal-Furnar, and AirMalta. This celebration underscored Malta’s steadfast commitment to the values upheld by the Council of Europe.

Shaun Farrugia posted an adorable video of him singing a new upcoming song, Chemicals, with a choir from La Voix Harmonies. 

The internationally acclaimed Maltese singer and songwriter shared a clip of him singing the upcoming track, framing it in a cute way as if he coincidentally stumbled upon a choir who knew the lyrics.

Farrugia even teased a possible release of a choir version of the song once it is released. 

This isn’t the first time Shaun has encouraged young talent, meeting fans who love his music and having a singalong with them.

4 Month Old Baby Hospitalised After Ħaż Żabbar Car Crash

Yesterday, at around 1700hrs, police were informed of a traffic accident which had taken place in Triq tal-Labour, Ħaż-Żabbar. 

Preliminary investigations showed that a crash had taken place between a Toyota Ist driven by an 18-year-old resident of Ħ’Attard and a Volvo XC60 driven by a 54 year old man resident of Mosta. 

Riding passenger in the Toyota were a 20 year old woman resident of Bormla and a 4 month old baby. 

In the accident, a parked Renault Captur and a VW Polo were also struck. In the VW Polo were a 54 year old man resident of Ħaż-Żabbar, a four year old boy and girl and two other boys aged 9 and 11. 

The civil protection department convened immediately on site along with a medical team. 

The man and kids in the VW polo along with the 4 month old baby and the 18 year old driver were all taken to Mater Dei Hospital. Later on, the 4 year old boy was certified as having suffered grievous injuries whereas the others were confirmed to have suffered light injuries. 

Police are still investigating.
