Donald Trump will officially run for US President in 2024

Donald Trump will officially run for US President in 2024
Nov 16 2022 Share

Former US President Donald Trump has announced he will once again run for the role in the 2024 election.

The presidential run by Trump did not come as a big surprise as he strongly hinted at the announcement on the eve of this month’s mid-term elections. “We’ve always known this was not the end, it was only the beginning to rescue the American dream” he told supporters.

“In order to make America great and glorious again I am tonight announcing my candidacy for President of the United States.”

Trump went on to describe the US as a ‘nation in decline’ and said that this is a fate that cannot be accepted. The Guardian had reported that Trump had wanted to capitalise on the Republican party’s clean-sweep by launching the campaign following the forecasted success.

However, Joe Biden’s party kept control of the Senate and the predicted ‘red wave’ underperformed. Meanwhile, the current POTUS tweeted out saying Trump ‘destroyed America’ during his time in office.

Trump told a crowd gathered at his Mar-a-Lago estate that he felt compelled to run, despite ‘not needing this.’ He said he had a very nice easy life but ‘we need to save our country.’

Happy Fast Food Day! Here are 5 cheat day food spots you need right now

Happy Fast Food Day! Here are 5 cheat day food spots you need right now
Nov 16 2022 Share

Today is Wednesday 16th November, or as those in the United States know it, National Fast Food Day. Today, food lovers celebrate the convenience and guaranteed satisfaction of all kinds of fast food, whether they come via delivery, pick-up or even from a drive-thru.

Popularised in the US of A in the 1950s, fast food has a special place in Malta’s heart. Whilst healthy eating and exercise are both recommended and encouraged, a cheat day every now and then is excusable; here are 5 cheat day food spots you need right now.

McDonald’s

The be all and end all of fast food joints in Malta and around the world. Many may argue against this global burger giant but there’s just something special about a McDonald’s burger that hits different when you bite into it. That, paired with the quick service and best sweet and sour sauce in the game make it a number 1 pick for sure.

Sphinx/Champs

The pizza in particular – often underrated, never understated. The standard Maltese pastizzeria pizza glistens brighter than an August sun but the pay-off after the first bite is one of the best fast food feelings ever. Whether you enjoy the pizza ‘raġel’ with eggs and sausage or pizza ‘mara’ with olives, a ‘pizza tal-pastizzi’ is definitely fast food goals.

CFC

If there’s something that’ll hit the spot on fast food day, it’s the crunchy golden taste explosion that is fried chicken. Whether you’re after a few chicken pieces or a fillet, or want to go all-out with a bucket meal, CFC may be exactly what you need today.

Pizza Hut

With over 14,100 restaurants in the world, it’s easy to see why Pizza Hut is one of the most popular fast food franchises ever. The crunchy-crusted pizza with cloudy dough and mouth-watering taste even better when dipped in whatever remains of your breadsticks’ garlic dip and if that isn’t cheat meal goals, we don’t know what is.

Wagyu To Go

Asian food satisfies our stomachs unlike anything else, but if you’re craving some flavourful fusion dishes with fast service and a bang for you buck, Wagyu To Go is the way to go. With dishes like Hoisin Sesame Chicken, Pork Teriyaki and Katsu Curry, you don’t want Wagyu in your life right now… you need it.

What’s YOUR favourite fast food spot?

Two people have reportedly died Tuesday afternoon after a projectile struck an area in Przewodów, Poland near the Ukrainian border.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has called an emergency meeting of the top national security and defence officials of the country.

Government spokesman Piotr Mueller did not immediately confirm the information on the missile strike but said that the meeting was held due to a crisis situation.

A senior US intelligence official confirmed to AP that Russian missiles crossed into Poland, which is an EU and NATO member bordering Ukraine.

The White House could not confirm the information on the two missiles either, but President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda said that the news was concerning. ‘Every inch of NATO territory must be defended’ said the Prime Minister.

This is a developing story.

Plans to rebuild world’s largest plane following Russian bombing

Plans to rebuild world’s largest plane following Russian bombing
Nov 15 2022 Share

The destruction of the world’s largest commercial plane, the Antonov AN-225, came as a heartbreak to many aviation geeks around the world.

The plane was destroyed during the Russian invasion of Ukraine after the aircraft was bombed in February at its base in Hostomel, just near capital city Kyiv.

The manufacturers tweeted out saying that the dream will never die and it seems as though they will stay true to their word and have blueprints and plans forming to rebuild the air vehicle.

Nicknamed ‘Mriya’, which is Ukrainian for ‘dream’, the massive plane was built back in the 1980s to carry the Soviet space shuttle. It was then used as a cargo transporter with twice the hold capacity as a Boeing 747.

This earned it cult status amongst fans of aviation. Stretching 84 metres, it had the longest wingspan of any fully operational airplane as well as being considered the heaviest aircraft ever built.

The nose of the aircraft had apparently taken a direct artillery hit and was completely destroyed. There was extensive damage to the wings and some of the engines. The tail end section was spared from any large impacts.

The rebuild project has already started, with the estimated repair costs predicted to bill over €500 million to get it back into the air. The company reportedly has 30% of required components for rebuilding established.
