Schools open; Teachers strike; Confusion reigns

Jan 7 2021 Share

Yesterday evening, Prime Minister, Robert Abela announced that schools will be operating normally as from this morning and that teachers and students alike are expected to show up to school.

The Malta Union of Teachers, however, did not agree with this decision. Teachers have gone out on strike and are not attending schools physically. As a result, many children were left stranded in front of gates that didn’t open.

Parents and children are also confused about the opening of schools and the way forward.

Minister for Education, Justyne Caruana stated as of 2 hours ago, that schools are open and they will operate normally.
