Doing good is delicious! Here's how you can give to charity by eating at McDonald's
Nov 16 2021 Share

Eating McDonald’s is always a wholesome experience, but it tastes so much better when you’re contributing to charity while you’re doing it.

If you haven’t heard already, Ronald McDonald House Charities is an international non-profit network that keeps families with sick children close to each other and to the care and resources they need. Malta is one of the 64 countries and regions which form part of the RMHC, serving over 3.6 million children and families every year and this year, they will be sustaining their mission to #KeepFamiliesClose.

From November 15 until 21, patrons of McDonald’s can give to charity via the MyMcDonald’s Rewards loyalty programme on the McDonald’s App or the RMHC website. That means that one can exchange their loyalty points to charity money to contribute to families in need. That’s why doing good is delicious! Donate to RMHC when ordering at an outlet or Donate your MyMcDonald’s Rewards through the app, with €1 for every 10 points donated.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Malta opened its first Learning Centre in Qawra to support children and their families facing challenges, learning difficulties and poverty. With help from various voluntary organisations, the centres provide ample facilities and resource to accomodate struggling families and aims to build a community within a community.

These efforts form part of McHappy Day week, an annual week of community-giving in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities. So if you want to give back and spread the deliciousness, you can either donate your change at McDonald’s Front Counters, Kiosks or Drive-Thrus, donate to RMHC when ordering at an outlet or Donate your MyMcDonald’s Rewards through the app, with €1 for every 10 points donated.

Send this to someone who loves McDonald’s.

Catholic organisations express cannabis bill concern

Catholic organisations express cannabis bill concern

22 Catholic organisations expressed their serious concerns over a number of aspects in the proposed regulation of recreational cannabis.

The House will be debating the second reading of the bill on Tuesday evening. 22 church entities expressed their concerns in a position paper, stating they were critical of the rush with which parliament is being asked top pass this new law proposing radical and risky changes.

The position paper will be tabled in the House on Tuesday, but the organisations asked the government to press the pause button. The draft must be put, according to the organisations, on hold until a serious, independent and researched study is carried about about the social impact if the proposals.

They expressed the possibility of loopholes to allow the use of cannabis in public, very ‘limited regulation’ of cannabis grown in households as well as the ‘weak regulation of the opening of cannabis growing associations in all towns and villages.’

The first Harry Potter film is 20 years old this week!

The first Harry Potter film is 20 years old this week!
Nov 16 2021 Share

‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ was released in cinemas all around the US today on the 16th of November 2001. It’s been two decades, with the fandom cultivating film releasing to a UK audience on the 10th of November. The books were already well on their way by then and many had already gotten a taste of Hogwarts.

But the release of the movie version saw millions of wizardry fans rushing to the cinema to see their heroes Harry, Ron and Hermione on the big screen. This mirrored queues outside bookstores donning robes as they eagerly awaited J.K. Rowling’s latest release.

The film sprouted an entire saga of sequels, with lovers of the fictional world massively invested in the magic. The first movie made a brilliant introduction to the engrossing world crafted by Rowling. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint brought the trio to life with spectacular character, going on to lead the franchise and even breaking the record at the time for the highest opening weekend in movie history.

It was a simple introduction to the story. Despite the later films feeling like a more refined and polished narrative, the first film remains one of the classics for all Hogwarts fans.

Harry Styles also opened up about how he wasn’t always the bold, unapologetic artist he now is. Growing up however, he came to overcome his fear of people judging his work, instead putting his mind to anything he wishes to achieve. A release date for the products hasn’t yet been announced, but the first to launch are the ‘Pearlescent Illuminating’ serum, ‘Pleasing Pen Matte’ lip oil and ‘Perfect Pearl’ nail polish.

He also went on to say that the core of the brand is ‘community’ and ‘collaborating’. He also brought to mind over-saturation and the environmental impacts of releasing new products. He said that the products are mindfully and sustainably made. ‘I really think that the essence of Pleasing is finding those little moments of joy and showing them to people’.
